About the Fellowship

The Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts and Humanities has received research funding through Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), and Global Research Alliance for Greenhouse Gas Emissions to support two MSc students in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) measurements and quantification in Uganda. The Fellowship focuses on GHG measurements in Pastoral Hotspots within Cattle-Grazed Farming systems in the central cattle corridor of Uganda, specifically in the districts of Nakaseke, Kiboga, Nakasongola, Luwero and Sembabule. This fellowship offers a unique chance to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices while gaining invaluable research experience for your career development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct fieldwork to measure greenhouse gas emissions within pastoral hotspots.
  2. Analyze data and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to mitigate GHG emissions.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. He or She must have completed one year of coursework or in the last semester of the first year in Kyambogo University.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Agriculture, Geography, Education).
  3. Strong academic record and research background.
  4. Demonstrated interest in climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, agriculture and Geographical sciences.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Proficiency in English and knowledge of local languages is a plus.
  8. Proficiency in data analysis preferably with R is a plus.
  9. Full time availability to all fellowship activities is mandatory.
