Welcome Remarks
Welcome to the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy of Kyambogo University, the academic centre par-excellence for the study of religions and philosophy. We take keen interest in examining religious beliefs, practices and institutions from an array of academic approaches. We objectively examine material culture, texts, films, arts, music, ritual and practices with a devotion to imparting academic knowledge and skills in inquisitive and scientific study of religions at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are committed to a secular, non-sectarian approach to religion as a phenomenon of human existence.
About the Department
Aims/ Objectives
The primary aims of the department are:
- To equip learners with adequate content and skills for historical analysis
- To develop interest in historical research and the use of a variety of source materials.
- To assist learners to acquire appropriate methods and techniques of teaching the subject at all levels.
- To help learners examine and appreciate national and international issues.
- To improve learners’ skills in a rational and logical discussion of ideas.
- To make learners develop the desire for continuous self-development through self-motivated learning.
